In today’s world, what children learn in their early years has a lasting impact on who they grow up to be. At the heart of the Reggio Emilia approach is the belief that every child is capable, curious, and eager to learn. Through our Reggio 5 programs, we create a space where children can explore, create, and develop essential skills that prepare them for success—both in the classroom and beyond.

Developing Problem-Solving Skills

In the Reggio 5, we prioritise hands-on learning that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. In our Earth to Kitchen program, for example, children explore sustainability by planting seeds, harvesting herbs and vegetables, and preparing meals with their educators. Through these activities, children not only learn to solve problems but also gain the confidence to tackle new challenges, all while having fun.

In Fitness & Mindfulness, activities like obstacle courses are about more than just physical skills. They also help children grow emotionally. As they work through obstacles, children learn to handle their emotions, overcome challenges, and celebrate small wins. This movement and emotional growth mix helps children develop their bodies and minds.

Fostering Collaboration and Social Skills

Teamwork and communication are at the heart of everything we do in our programs. In Dance & Beats, children work together to learn dance routines, building cooperation and social connections. As they move and groove, they also learn how to express themselves and listen to others. The joy of creating something as a team—whether through dance or music—helps children form friendships and feel a sense of belonging.

In Music & Sound, children engage in ensemble play, listening carefully to their peers, which enhances their listening skills and the ability to express themselves. This program is not only about rhythm and melody—it’s about developing the confidence to share ideas, collaborate with others, and navigate social interactions. These skills are foundational to building meaningful relationships and succeeding in future group settings, whether in school or at work.

Cultivating Cultural Awareness

In our Language & Culture program, we encourage children to explore the world through language, namely Italian, this year! Through activities like storytelling, singing, and crafting, children are introduced to new sensory experiences—hearing the cadence of a new language, tasting different foods, and exploring diverse art forms. These experiences help children grow their understanding of the world and give them the confidence to speak Italian.

There’s something magical about seeing a child’s face light up when they sing a song in a new language or listen to a story from a different culture. These moments are more than just fun—they spark connections, cultivate cultural awareness, and inspire empathy, all while building language and communication skills.

Building Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills are essential to early childhood development, and they play a critical role in many Reggio 5 activities. In Earth to Kitchen, children practice fine motor skills as they plant seeds, chop vegetables, and engage in food preparation – so much fun! These activities not only develop hand-eye coordination and dexterity but also allow children to feel a sense of accomplishment as they contribute to meal preparation.

Through activities like crafting in the Language & Culture program or dancing in Dance & Beats, children strengthen their hands, fingers, and wrists, which are key to many daily tasks—like writing, tying shoes, and using utensils. These activities promote sensory development while also allowing children to express themselves creatively.

Preparing for a Bright Future

The Reggio 5 programs are more than just extracurricular activities—they are transformative experiences that help children grow emotionally, socially, cognitively, and physically. By combining play and exploration with intentional skill-building, we ensure that children are not only prepared for academic success but are also equipped with the tools to be thoughtful, creative, and compassionate leaders.

Through our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, we help children build important skills like communication, emotional understanding, and problem-solving that will stay with them throughout their lives. By focusing on nurturing the whole child, we’re preparing them to thrive in a world that values cooperation, creativity, and the ability to bounce back from challenges.

We’d love to welcome you and your child to experience the magic of the Reggio 5.
